Extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage thought to be long dead, comes out of self-imposed exile and is set on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself caught up in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments.

Interesting Facts

  • Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone made her Hollywood debut with this film. Reportedly she had earlier turned down an offer to work on Furious 7 (2015) after unavailability of dates.
  • Will be the first entry of the series not to feature Michael Roof due to his death in June 9, 2009.
  • Michael Bisping replaced Conor McGregor after McGregor pulled out. Both are UFC champion in their respected weight class.
  • This marks the second incident where Vin Diesel opted out of the second entry of a series that he originally launched as the lead before reprising the role again. Diesel also skipped the second entry of The Fast and the Furious series.
  • During filming Michael Bisping accepted a UFC title shot on 2 weeks notice to replace injured challenger Chris Weidman. Despite being a huge betting underdog, Michael Bisping defeated his opponent Luke Rockhold in Round 1 by Knockout to become the UFC Middleweight Champion.
  • Both Vin Diesel and Tony Jaa previously starred together in Furious 7.
